Vibe Coding: DROP D for coding

— 1 minute read

The vibe coding trend looks and sounds cool. Sure, it gives the thrill and experience of building something as a weekend project. I worry that these projects won't turn into anything meaningful.

Just like that guitar collecting dust and getting embarrassed when somebody asks if you play. "Oh, I just VIBE".

I guess we will see, but Vibe Coding to me feels very much like the dude at a party who learned "Smoke on the Water" in Drop D and plays it over and over again until everybody leaves.

There is a path where somebody vibe coding gets hooked on how the whole systems work and will continue to learn more than hitting Tab and seeing what is behind the vibes.

I want to see more people building things, Notion is a great example of a place where people can build meaningful things without being software engineers.

Keep building things, but I worry that once the vibes change, all the hype will disappear, and the new shiny object (a drumset) will take over the internet.
